Is recreational casting becoming too popular?

We all remember when we thought we were the only ones that could possibly think that casts were cool. Whether you liked to see a pretty girl crutching around the mall with her leg encased in plaster, or whether you like to be casted yourself. It was a great relief to all of us when we found others with our interests on the web. I remember when our household finally got 'on-line' a little over two years ago. A friend had told me you could find "anything" on the internet. Of coarse you all know what the first thing I thought of was.

I started surfing the web for anything cast related. I found many websites referring to casts from the medical standpoint. This is really all I had expected. I found a few personal pages telling about their broken legs and such and their experiences in casts. Then I came across a story posted in a newsgroup. It was about a guy who, after his girlfriend, Tracy, who was late for dinner, showed up in a full leg cast. It then went on to tell how turned on he was by Tracy's cast.

Wow, this was really the first thing I had found that really showed there were others with my interest. I soon found another story from the same author about a girl named Angela in a hip spica. At about the same time I found a website secifically for and about people interested in people wearing legbraces. This was Susan's site, "The legbrace devotee". In this site there was an ftp page devoted to cast lovers. And from there it began.

Soon after, this website advertised and linked a new website for castlovers. "Plaster of Paradise". And I was in paradise. Now I had a place I belonged. People who shared the same odd fascination I had of casts. With this website up all casters around the world started to realize they were not alone. Soon many cast devoted websites would appear, and, a chatroom. All the casters could not believe how many of us there were out there all over the world. An effort was made to make sure that any casters that still thought they were alone would be able to find our little group. Now a caster who decides to look for something cast related on the internet will easily find the world of recreational casting.

This is great, however, there can be some drawbacks to this "coming out of the closet" thing. Anyone else searching the web for information about casts or broken bones etc. is also going to find us. This could have detrimental effects on recreational casters.

For example, someone breaks their leg. The log on and do a websearch for "leg cast" to get some tips on how to deal with this new addition they are stuck with. The search engine returns the first 100 hits and 96 of them are for recreational cast sites. Now this person, who just happens to be an attractive lady, just found out that there are a whole bunch of what she might consider weirdo's or perverts out there that might be stalking her or something. Now, how many of us like to watch a castee in public crutching around? It kind of scares my to think that these casted people might know about us.

Another draw back of this would be for the people that enjoy self casting and publicing. Imagine if people become aware of this pass time, it would be a little embarrassing to me to have these people know your in that by choice.

I am just a little worried about us getting to open. I want all casters to know their not alone and to find the cast sites, but the thought of a lot of the non caster public knowing about this is not something I want to happen.

If you have any comments on this that you would like to share please write. Please let me know if you want it on the website of if its just for me.
