I got a letter recently from Mark and Crissandra. They did their first cast recently and are sharing it here with us.
Here is the letter that tells about their adventure.
My boyfriend and I have been going out for about a year now and we just did our first recreational casting experience. We both had a great time doing it! We got the supplies at a local medical supply store and read up on how to apply it over the internet on all of the wonderful sites! So, we finally decided on a nice long weekend. I got home from work and he had the car packed and was ready to take off. We checked into a motel and the first thing he did was unpacked all of the casting supplies, he was ready to go. So, I changed into a pair of shorts and sat down. He first put the stocknette over my leg and then began to wrap my lower limb in cotton padding. It was all new to me since I've never broken anything in my life. He then took out the fiberglass bandage and dipped it into the water and then began to wrap. I could feel the warming on my leg as it began to dry...He put the third and final role on and I couldn't move my ankle at all, I was immobile.
The cast dried relatively quickly, about 30 minutes or so and I then began to hobble around the room as he laughted at me. It really was a strange experience not being able to walk. We ended up going out to dinner with me cruching along. I got a lot of stares and a few questions of how I broke my ankle and I told them that I broke it while I was rollerblading. The cast looked real and the story stuck! We both had a lot of fun doing the casting adventure, eventhough it was only for two days! I would love to try a long leg cast, maybe that will be our next adventure?
Sounds like they had a good time. We hope to hear more from this couple in the future.
