| Step One: Pull on the underlayer for the cast.. either white tights, tubular stockinette, or (shown here) the legs from old 'long johns' ! (long winter underwear) Be sure the garment fits your leg snuggly without any creases when you wrap the plaster. Also shown below is the water for dipping plaster rolls, and the drop cloth to catch stray plaster blobs! |

Step One (cont) Pulling on a second piece of underlayer to cover from ankle to knee. Not only does the underlayer protect the skin from the cast cutter, but it firms and smooths the leg so the finished cast will be smooth and perfectly molded! |

| The last piece of underlayer is pulled over the foot, fully covering the
"broken" leg from toes to crotch in preparation for the plaster bandages.
Note the extra covering over the toes. Later this will be folded back over the end of the finished cast to leave a smooth opening at the toes and the upper leg. |
