"Two women wished to loose and gain weight respectively and compiled a diary of their progress earlier this year, during which, one of them falls and breaks her leg in two places as far as my pigeon Norwegian can make out, the inscription on the cast close up reads "Too much or too little Noka can help with both". JD's note:"This might be a hip spica cast. There appears to be an abduction bar attached in the area of her left ankle. However, this is the only view." Gimpfan writes: "The first pic in this package is a pic of Salma Hayek in a body cast from the upcoming movie Frida. I just posted a message about it on your message board. Can't wait until that film comes out." "Second pic is a scan from my high school yearbook. I contributed an inferior scan of the same pic several years ago and always kicked myself for not doing a better job on it. The girl was a junior varsity cheerleader who had knee surgery. She was in that cast for 12 weeks and had to wear a brace for 12 more weeks. God bless the days before orthoscopy!"	Gimpfan	12/9/01

Later grew a bit wrong, so she needed an operation. First two weeks in a non-walking cast, than 5 (five) weeks in a walking cast."	--	10/30/01

	LikesLAC writes: I saw this young lady at a mall and, since I just happened to have my camera with me, asked if I could take her picture. She said it was OK, but seemed confused as to why I wanted to. I told her that I found her cast interesting. She was quite cooperative about posing, etc. I asked how she broke her arm and she explained that she had fallen while skateboarding, fracturing her wrist. I commented that it was a large cast to have to wear for a wrist fracture. She agreed and said that she had mentioned this to the doctor. He told her that it was necessary in order to keep the injury immobilized. I said, "Well isn't that the whole idea of a cast anyway?" She giggled at this. I thanked her repeatedly and asked if I could give her a few dollars for her trouble. She said that it wasn't necessary, but that she would take it. So I gave her 3 bucks and went on my way. This was one of my best sightings ever. The LATS is probably my very favorite kind of cast, especially when worn by an attractive female. Incidentally, the pictures were taken inside a swimwear shop. 	Rebecca Miller, a meterologist on local TV chan 5 (North Texas area), has a nice LAC. It's a light color, probably fiber. She has a sling made from a scarf, so a good portion of the cast is showing. You may be able to see her on their streaming video feed. Go to www.kxas.com and click on "See the Feedroom". Then select either broadband or narrowband. I got it to work on broadband but not narrowband, so your results may vary. She presents the weather several times during the morning and the weather show is archived, so you don't have to be there exactly on time to see her. Click on the "weather" button in the lower left corner of the Feedroom menu page.	OAG	2/28/01

Branco writes: After a few months of relatively unsuccessful trips to the local hospital I finally hit a winner. I was hanging out at the orthopaedics dept. and there were a few uninteresting sightings. Well one of them was a great plaster SLWC with toeplate and a big heel, more like a full sole molded into the cast, very nice thing, but it was on an old guy, what a waste. There was also a lady with some not very good looking SLC, kind of a mix of plaster and bandages. She didn't look too good and I gathered that she was waiting to have it removed, I couldn't get any images. But, in the meantime, out comes this great looking girl in her 30s, brown hair, well dressed, and she has this nice SLC with a sandal type heel, Lohman, I think. She has small feet with really cute and lovely toes and was crutching. The cast is fiber, I think. I took a couple of pics without she noticing but after a while lost the shyness, walked up to her and asked nicely if I could take a couple of pics. I said it was for a report (not so nice, I admit), she looked kind of surprised and I don't think that she completely bought it but she let me take the pics, it's the last few of the series. She was smiling, almost laughing as I took the pics, a bit shy and very nice. I asked a few questions, she said she fractured a "bone in her foot" couldn't remember the bones name, this was last Sunday. I don't know what she was doing there today (Thursday), said she was going to be casted for a month (doesn't seem long enough). I left just in time because her boyfriend showed up to pick her up a while afterwards.	Branco	2/24/01

You may be able to see her on their streaming video feed. Go to www.kxas.com and click on "See the Feedroom". Then select either broadband or narrowband. I got it to work on broadband but not narrowband, so your results may vary.
